A Bookmark is Whatever is in Arm’s Reach
When we use random objects as bookmarks (grocery receipts, paperclips, straws, keys, etc.), we risk smudging the ink and tearing the pages of our beautiful books. If you’re buying print books on a regular basis, chances are that you’d like to hold on to them for a while. For sentimental value and / or to re-read at a later date. So keeping physical books in the best shape you can is critical.
Old School Bookmarks
When we use paper bookmarks that may or may not be laminated, we eliminate the destruction factor, but then we may run into the issue of the marker not staying in place. It can fall out when in our tote bag. It can get pulled out by our tassel-obsessed pets. There’s nothing actually securing the marker to the book itself.
