#WUApprentices have a new SynGen in their toolkit!
Apprentices: Sign in to check it out!
If you’re not an Apprentice yet for some reason, here’s a bit more info about this latest SynGen and the perks of being an Apprentice.
What is a SynGen?
I use “SynGen” as shorthand for “synopsis generator.” It’s a little bit of code I put together to help new writers organize their thoughts about their latest book idea.
The SynGen allows you to enter a few key pieces of information and have a paragraph generated for you that organizes your input into a tiny synopsis.
You can then take that custom synopsis and start to flesh out your book’s content, be it fiction or nonfiction.
What’s Special About This SynGen?
Each SynGen is crafted with a specific kind of manuscript in mind. The Mystery:Theft SynGen focuses on a theft or heist mystery in which a main character is trying to figure out who took a valuable object.
The key to SynGen construction is the Five Ps of Premise Prep. If you know your Five Ps, completing a SynGen will be faster and easier for you, and the generated paragraph will make more sense.
What’s an Apprentice?
Becoming a Writerwerx University Apprentice gives you access to some key tools and resources to help you take your authorship to the next level. This includes:
- No Ads. Apprentices can view the members-only content on the site with no ads. This offers a less distracting experience with faster page loads.
- SynGens. As noted above, only Apprentices have access to SynGens and can use them at will.
- Setup Breakdowns. Thee are analyses of books I’ve read using The Five Ps of Premise Prep. When you understand how popular books are put together, that can help you become a stronger writer for your own work.
- Toolkit. The Toolkit includes resources that help make the job of writing easier and more profitable. This includes worksheets, illustrations, diagrams, and more.
- Office Hours. Apprentices get to hook up with me in hour-long sessions (without paying my normal $100 fee!) where they get to pick my brain, support each other, and get the help they need for whatever they’re stuck on in real time. Times and dates are announced across social media, but only Apprentices will be given the link to attend these virtual sessions.
- Direct Feedback. Some of the members-only lessons have the option to submit works in progress to me. I’ll take a look at them and let you know where I see vulnerabilities and give you guidance for moving forward.
- The Money Page. A crowd favorite! This page is all about how to increase and save the royalties earned from book sales, as well as explore other revenue streams available to authors of just about any genre.
- Free Books. Unlike the general public, Apprentices get the full text of my books without having to buy copies externally at sites like Amazon.com or BarnesAndNoble.com. You can read all currently available books in the Apprentice Library.
- Enhanced Lessons. Each Apprentice version of a Writerwerx University lesson comes with extra sections, greater detail, videos, supplementary graphics, and more.
- Discounted Services. Writerwerx University offers a wide variety of services for writers, including screenwriting, proofreading, illustrations, and book promotion. Apprentices get discounts on these services based on how long they’ve been an Apprentice in good standing. The highest available discount is 25% off after being an Apprentice for 12 consecutive months!
